PostSubject: Our story from 2004 to now   Sun Jun 28, 2009 8:52 pm

Everything we have read so far, is the same as our situation. We bought one unit in April 2004. It was our dream. We went to Florida for many years and this would be a place of our own. It was to be a future investment for our daughters.
We are not rich people. We took equity from our home and made that hugh leap of faith. Our unit was to be completed in June 2006. We followed the progress carefully (if you could call it that) and every time we visited Florida we travelled down Highway 27 to the site, but there was never much doing.
As time passed we started to grow concerned. We arranged a meeting with MRI in Florida who assured us that everything was okay. MRI set up a meeting with a rep from TDS who confirmed the same. By now we were in October 2006. We were persuaded to sign the new contracts. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and alarms bells should have been ringing here, but I suppose that we didn't want the dream to end. In Feb 2008 we signed an appendix because they wanted to make the club house bigger and our unit was re-located, but the completion remained unchanged although we were told later that as we had signed an appendix we were locked into the contract until 2010. We will continue to dispute this as the contract doesn't reflect a change in dates in fact it states the date of June 2008.
Sadly one of our daughters died in January this year and the whole reason for buying ended. All we wanted was to end the contract and get our money back. We have faced the hard sell by MRI as has already been suggested and it now seems that we will never see our $63,000+ again. It makes us feel sick, but in light of what we have faced this year, it is nothing.
Our only concern and perhaps somebody can help here is can we be forced to proceed with the venture. May sound a silly question, but on top of everything else we have no trust and could not face that kind of battle.
Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.
